The Financeit Team Is Growing


As Financeit picks up speed with the release of a New Loan Application, the approach of the US launch, and growing our Canadian operations, the team is expanding!

Our most recent additions to the Financeit team include: Derek Smith as the new VP of Risk and Erik de Witte joining the Financeit Board of Advisors. Smith and de Witte’s diverse backgrounds, experience, and insights on the consumer finance industry will be important additions to our team – and in our goal of making Financeit an industry leader.


Having worked in the industry for fourteen years, Derek Smith is an experienced Financial Services Professional. He has spent a significant amount of time in the commercial bank space, working in risk management, finance, sales and vendor management. Derek is coming to us from JPMorgan Chase where he held the position of Senior Risk Manager, specializing in advisory to Canadian businesses, policy monitoring and auditing. Derek’s prior experience includes being a Faculty member at Sheridan College, Risk Manager at GE Capital and Senior Financial Analyst at TD Bank Group.

Derek received a BCOM in Finance from Ryerson University and later completed his MBA at Queen’s University.

Erik de Witte is an entrepreneur and a consultant to the consumer finance industry. Most recently, Erik was the SVP and President of TD Financing Services, TD advisor-erik-f0be39041dbb360d0ac88c9464050395Bank Group’s indirect lending business which is a leader in point-of-sale financing for automobiles, recreational vehicles and home improvement loans with over $12 billion in assets and 800 employees. Erik was involved in numerous acquisition opportunities including TD Bank Group’s acquisition of Chrysler Financial LLC. Erik joined TD Bank through their acquisition of VFC Inc., an industry leader in non-prime automotive lending.  Alongside his consumer financing experience, Erik worked as a chartered accountant with KPMG.

Erik is a graduate of Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Commerce.

Bilingual Collections Specialist

We’re looking for someone experienced with collections and negotiations in a banking or agency environment and a deep understanding of consumer credit. They will be responsible for aiding with the development of operational processes. coordinating outbound collections and the production and analysis of reports. Experience with US Collection, repossession and PPSA would be an asset. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and French and English fluency with the ability to translate.

Bilingual Operations Administrator

We’re looking to hire someone who has a proven track record with client relationship management. They will have to multi-task so maintaining a positive attitude is necessary in this fast-paced environment. They will be responsible for ensuring critical application data is entered correctly into the loan management system as well as handling communication with Partners/Borrowers. The candidate must also have French and English fluency with the ability to translate.

Bilingual Financial Services Representative

We’re looking for someone who can build lasting relationships with Partners while being detail-oriented and juggling several tasks at once in a high-pressure environment. The candidate must also have extensive knowledge of consumer credit and lending practices. Responsibilities will include the processing of Partner/Borrower and customer requests, managing the loan adjudication process and adhering to all applicable regulations. French and English fluency is also necessary, with the ability to translate.
