We are very pleased to announce that Peter Epp has joined Financeit as the company’s first Executive Vice President & General Counsel.
Peter brings a wealth of international experience to the Financeit team, acquired over a 20-year career spanning Canada, the US and the UK. He was an equity partner at both New York-based law firm White & Case LLP and London-based law firm Herbert Smith Freehills LLP where he advised leading global investment banks, corporates (listed, private, pre-IPO, and early stage), and sovereigns on a wide range of public and private transactions (including capital markets, finance, regulatory and compliance, and corporate/M&A). While in private practice he was consistently named as a leading lawyer or expert in prominent legal ranking publications including Chambers Global, Chambers UK, Legal 500, IFLR1000, and Who’s Who Legal.
As Financeit’s chief legal officer and member of the senior executive team reporting to the CEO, Peter will oversee day-to-day legal operations and legal strategy. He will provide advice and guidance on corporate, finance, regulatory and compliance, risk management, M&A, litigation, corporate governance, and general legal issues, as well as provide strategic and tactical advice and counsel to the company and the board of directors.
Peter has also held positions in government, politics, academia, and international development finance, including an in-house counsel finance role at the World Bank in Washington, DC and as a Visiting Senior Lecturer in corporate finance at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business.
Peter received his BA degree from his hometown University of Manitoba, his JD law degree from the University of British Columbia (including US securities, corporate, and finance law at the University of Minnesota), and his LLM law degree from the London School of Economics. He is qualified to practise law in Canada, New York, and England & Wales.
