Michael has spent most of the last 15 years devoted to driving growth in businesses dedicated to innovation in financial services. Prior to co-founding Financeit, Michael was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at epost (www.epost.ca), a world leader in the electronic bill presentment and payment industry. Michael was responsible for leading the team that built the epost customer network which grew to include every major Canadian financial institution, over 100 of Canada's largest companies and over 3 million online users. Previous to this role, Michael was on the founding team of an Ottawa-based Internet start-up creating online enterprise solutions, on the launch team of a successful Ontario Labour Sponsored Investment Fund and was a management consultant with a Washington, DC based systems integration firm. Michael also served as a Legislative and Special Assistant to a number of Members of Parliament at the House of Commons in Ottawa. Michael attended both the University of Manitoba and Carleton University and holds a B.A. in Political Science and Economics.
Casper joins us after a stint with easyhome where he was Director of e-Business and Business Development. Easyhome is Canada’s largest publicly traded merchandise leasing company with over 240 store locations and annual revenues in excess of $170MM. While there, Casper developed a growth strategy for their online lending business and lead his team to double loan book and revenue growth in a span of 6 months. He was also responsible for sourcing, implementation, and negotiation of key partnerships including an underwriting platform with Transunion. Furthermore, he organized and set up their credit, adjudication and customer service areas for the online lending business as the company expanded. Prior to easyhome, he was with BMO Capital Markets having worked on their Mergers and Acquisitions team and completed many successful transactions in the Retail, Aerospace & Defense, Mining, and Oil & Gas sectors with combined values in excess of $12 billion.
Paul has worked on and led many unique projects since graduating from one of Canada’s top computer engineering faculties, ECE at UofT. Previously he wore the entrepreneur’s hat as Partner & CTO of MomentVille, an online wedding website and planning service with hundreds of thousands of monthly users. More recently, Paul was a consultant at Form & Method, Toronto’s elite shop for cutting-edge web & mobile development work and our longtime development partner. After joining the team, Paul built the original version of Financeit and has been in charge of the company's technical architecture and development ever since.
Shawn is certainly no stranger to the Canadian sales finance industry having been a professional in it since 1995. Shawn was most recently an AVP with HSBC Finance where he managed a national team of relationship managers responsible for sales, P&L and customer service. We are very excited to be adding Shawn’s tremendous industry experience and market reputation to our executive team.
With 20 years of experience in leading and managing finance teams, Ian Hanning joins Financeit from Capital One Canada, where he was the Chief Financial Officer. Prior to becoming CFO in 2012, Ian held progressively senior finance roles at Capital One in both Canada and the UK over the previous 12 years. He began his career at Glenfield Hospital NHS Trust in Leicester, UK.

Ian holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and Finance from Leeds Metropolitan University. In addition, he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK (FCMA) and a Canadian CPA CMA. He also serves on the board of ENACTUS Canada, an organization committed to creating global sustainability through entrepreneurial action.
With more than 15 years of marketing leadership with notable global brands, including Aviva, Yahoo!, and BT, Natasha brings a wealth of experience in product development, traditional and digital marketing to the role. As Marketing Director of Yahoo! Search Marketing Europe, Natasha led the small business channel in 12 countries, and is credited with spearheading a $40MM incremental pipeline through development of a reseller network. Natasha has launched international, high-performance campaigns across Canada and Europe, and holds an impressive track record in creating innovative strategies to attract and retain small and medium-sized businesses and their customers, making her a perfect fit for us here at Financeit. Natasha holds a BSc in Psychology from University College London, an MSc in Ergonomics from the University of Birmingham, a postgraduate diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and is professionally accredited by the British Association of Project Management.
Lee brings to Financeit over 15 years of product and project management experience in the consumer lending and eCommerce spaces. Lee is a passionate, analytical and innovative leader, with a strong technical foundation and a long track record of delivering slick digital solutions to powerhouse brands. Prior to joining Financeit in late 2013, Lee spent over 4 years at Nurun Toronto leading product strategy, roadmap, requirements and the product development life cycle for The Home Depot Canada’s eCommerce platform. Lee received his Honours B.A.Sc in Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto.
Peter brings a wealth of international experience to the Financeit team, acquired over a 20-year career spanning Canada, the US and the UK. As an equity partner at both New York-based law firm White & Case LLP and London-based law firm Herbert Smith Freehills LLP, Peter advised leading global investment banks, corporates (listed, private, pre-IPO, and early stage), and sovereigns on a wide range of public and private transactions (including capital markets, finance, regulatory and compliance, and corporate/M&A) and was consistently named as a leading lawyer or expert in prominent legal ranking publications. Peter has also held positions in government, politics, academia, and international development finance, including an in-house counsel finance role at the World Bank in Washington, DC and as a Visiting Senior Lecturer in corporate finance at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business. Peter received his BA degree from his hometown University of Manitoba, his JD law degree from the University of British Columbia (including US securities, corporate, and finance law at the University of Minnesota), and his LLM law degree from the London School of Economics. He is qualified to practise law in Canada, New York, and England & Wales. As Financeit’s chief legal officer and member of the senior executive team reporting to the CEO, Peter will oversee day-to-day legal operations and legal strategy.
Patañjali joins Financeit from Ultimate Software, where he was the Vice President of User Experience. Previously, he spent over 12 years leading user experience efforts at Oracle and has also held senior leadership roles at Microsoft and at Kent Ridge Digital Labs in Singapore.

Patañjali holds an MBA from both Columbia Business School and UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, as well as a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Toronto. In addition, he is a Certified Natural Chef and completed his externship at the world-renowned Michelin-starred restaurant Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California.
Susan has over 15 years of experience in credit risk management and has expertise in credit scoring, risk strategy and risk decision automation. Most recently, Susan was with Scotiabank, where she was responsible for risk strategy and automated decision support for retail and small business lending. Previously, she worked at Experian as General Manager for the Canadian office. Susan is on the Board of Directors for the Credit Scoring and Risk Strategy Association. She holds an MBA from McGill University and an Honors B.A. from the University of Western Ontario.
Kristen Appleby is a financial services professional with more than 16 years of experience in both the real estate and banking industries in the United States. Focused in risk management of consumer and residential mortgage lending (including credit risk, compliance risk, vendor management, and policy/procedure writing), Kristen comes to us from a United States community banking environment and her most recent role was AVP of Consumer and Residential Mortgage Lending. Additionally, Kristen has worked with Federal and State bank examiners to respond to audit/exam findings and making corrections as deemed by regulatory compliance and regulators. Her focus for the last several years has been learning and implementing the new US compliance regulations that have resulted as part of Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 (Dodd-Frank Act) which established the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB).
Mr. Jones is an experienced professional in financial services. Most recently he was the CEO of GMAC Residential Capital, LLC (ResCap), a diversified real estate finance company that offers a broad array of innovative capital solutions to businesses and consumers worldwide. Mr. Jones had previously served as Vice Chairman at Providian Financial, President of Direct Banking and Insurance, as well as Head of Consumer Credit, at Bank of America, and previously worked in senior leadership positions at Wells Fargo and Citigroup. Mr. Jones serves as a board member of Merchant E-Solutions, and is Chairman of the Board of Advanced Payment Solutions. Previously, he had served as a board member of E-Loan. Jones earned a Bachelors from Washburn University, and received a M.A. from the University of Nebraska and a Master of Business degree from the University of Kansas.

Scott Stiegler is Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance for FIS. In this role, he directs FIS' efforts to identify companies and opportunities that can leverage the company's core expertise in various industries and that offer the potential to maximize value for the shareholders of FIS and its operating subsidiaries. Scott's responsibilities include evaluating, structuring, and negotiating corporate acquisition transactions, developing strategic partnerships, and identifying investment opportunities for FIS and its operating subsidiaries. Before joining FIS in 2011, Scott was a Managing Director at the investment banking firm of Stephens Inc., where he led the Information Technology and Services practice and provided clients advisory services with respect to mergers and acquisitions as well as equity and debt financings. Scott earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan, and a master's degree in business administration from the Darden School at the University of Virginia. Scott is a CPA.
Mark Johnson joined TTV - a significant investing group throughout our Series A funding - as a partner in 2008. He is the former vice chairman of CheckFree, where his responsibilities included overseeing mergers and acquisitions, evaluating strategic growth opportunities for the company, developing strategic corporate relationships and supporting long-term business strategies. He was also a member of the CheckFree board of directors. Prior to joining CheckFree, Mark worked for the Federal Reserve Bank and Bank One. He currently serves on a number of private companies’ boards of directors, is a former chairman of Venture Atlanta, and on the board of directors of the Technology Association of Georgia. Mark holds an undergraduate degree from Miami University and an M.B.A. from the Ohio State University.
Tim was recently Financeit's Chief Compliance Officer. Prior to that, Tim was the founder of investment management firm, FairLane Asset Management. Tim's financial services career started when he first joined Merrill Lynch in 1979. He worked subsequently in fixed income trading at Bay street firms Burns Fry Ltd. and Richardson Greenshields . In 1989 Tim switched gears and joined Mackenzie Financial where his role as Senior Vice President included portfolio management and contributing to Investment and Derivatives committee oversight. Fulfilling a lifelong ambition Tim recently earned his Private Pilot's license and is working towards an instrument rating.
