Meet Joanne Longo, Senior Manager of Learning and Development at Financeit. Joanne has been with Financeit for over a decade, providing comprehensive training for employees to ensure they are prepped for platform and program launches and/or changes.
What’s your role at Financeit, and what do you do day-to-day?
I’m the Senior Manager of Learning & Development at Financeit. While I sit within the Sales team, my role spans across the entire organization.
I lead a small but mighty L&D team, and my focus is on building and delivering training programs, developing internal resources, and supporting both internal and external launches. I work closely with teams like PMO and Tech to ensure employees are prepared for platform updates and new initiatives.
Day-to-day, my work involves a lot of collaboration, communication, and problem-solving – whether that’s organizing training sessions, identifying process gaps, or creating resources to better support both employees and customers.
What has your growth journey looked like here?
I joined Financeit in 2014 as a Customer Service Representative on the Operations team, back when the company was much smaller.
Early on, I was eager to learn as much as possible. I asked questions, got involved in training and communications, and took every opportunity to better understand our systems and processes. With strong support from my manager, I was able to build the skills that eventually led me into a training-focused role.
Over time, I transitioned into Learning & Development, taking on responsibilities like onboarding, ongoing training, and building out our internal resource centre. I’ve also had the opportunity to support major initiatives, including training Home Depot associates across Canada for the Project Loan program.
In 2025, I stepped into my current role as Senior Manager of Learning & Development, where I now work closely with teams across the entire company.
How would you describe Financeit’s culture?
Financeit has a strong “One Team” culture built on collaboration, support, and innovation.
Ask anyone at Financeit and they will tell you their favourite part of working at Financeit is “the people”. The Financeit team is made up of a diverse group of motivated and fun people who enjoy working together to achieve mutual goals. One of my favourite parts of my role is that I get to work with every team at the company in some capacity.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about joining our team?
Ask questions, feedback is a gift, be kind and helpful to others, look to develop your skills, and learn something new every day. Small steps have a big impact over time.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, trivia, music, movies, and cooking. I also love spending time with family and friends, exploring Toronto drinking coffee, and trying new restaurants with my husband.
